2007 SNM State Fair Queen
Tomi Chavarria
Tomi Chavarria is a third-generation Las Crucen who has spent all of her 17 years in her hometown, where just this past year she has served passionately as an advocate of agriculture and history as the Southern New Mexico State Fair Queen. She is the daughter of Gary and Sherry Chavarria and is a senior at her parents' alma mater, Mayfield High School. In addition to serving as an ambassador and role model for young women, Tomi has also spent the last four years as a cheerleader on the varsity squad at Mayfield, this year as one of the team captains. In her spare time, Tomi enjoys what most other 17 year-olds do: spending time with her friends, watching movies, and enjoying the great outdoors with her family. Tomi is very excited to attend college after graduation, where she would like to study marine biology. Her proudest moment has been to serve as your Southern New Mexico State Fair Queen, which would not have been possible without the love and support of her family. "This has been one of the most wonderful moments of my life," says Tomi. "I encourage all young women who aspire to be leaders in their community to show their love for New Mexico and be involved with the Southern New Mexico State Fair Queen competition. It's truly been an honor to serve this year, and the experience is one that I will never forget.
