2009 SNMSF Fair Queen & Court
Queen Kassi Grooms
Having the honor of serving as the 2009 Fair Queen for the Southern New Mexico State Fair & Rodeo fulfills a childhood dream for 17 year old Kassi Grooms. Kassi is a senior at Las Cruces High School, where she is a member of FFA and has held various FFA offices. She is also an active member of the Taylor Road Turkeys and White Sands 4-H clubs, as well as being Dona Ana County Council Vice President, and New Mexico State 4-H President. Upon graduation, Kassi will be attending NMSU, in the College of Agriculture, where she will be studying Education. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, dancing, public speaking, and traveling. Kassi loves the SNMSF&R, and has been a part of it since she was very young. Through the years, she has raised and exhibited dairy heifers, swine, sheep, goats, rabbits, poultry, and various crafts in the youth department. Kassi is proud to serve as an ambassador for the SNMSF&R and looks forward to the upcoming year.
Princess Sharlae Brown
Your 2009 Fair Princess for the SNMSF&R is Sharlae Brown, she is 13 years old and an 8th grader at Vista Middle School. She was born here in Las Cruces and resides on a piece of her great grandparents farm in the North Valley. Her family raises alfalfa hay along with the many animals she and her brother, Justus show at the fair. She is an active member of the 10x Youth Shooting Club, Taylor Road Turkey 4-H Club and has served as an ambassador for the Dona Ana County 4-H Council for the past two years. Her hobbies include baking, photography, shooting sports, hunting and spending time with her family and friends. Sharlae is very thankful for the opportunity she has been given to be raised with an agriculture background and looks forward to sharing that with others as she represents the SNMSF&R this year.
Jr Princess Chloe Long
My name is Chloe Long and I am 12 years old. My parents are Travis and Diane Long. I have a younger sister named Maggie. I am in the seventh grade at Sierra Middle school. I am involved with the media magnet program, the Sierra Choir, volleyball and I am a member of the National Honor Society. I enjoy taking photographs, collecting snow globes, singing, riding horses and camping. My favorite part of the fair is the rides and rodeo. I am very excited to be representing the Southern New Mexico State Fair & Rodeo as the 2009 Jr. Fair Princess.
